Rui Diving Centre offers opportunities to complete open-water instructor development activities at selected tropical destinations, including the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and other available locations.

Develop practical teaching experience in natural aquatic environments while building confidence in student supervision, environmental awareness, and open-water safety.

Tropical training may also provide opportunities for professional underwater photography, video content creation, and instructor portfolio development.

Tropical training is subject to scheduling, destination availability, and the selected course package. Travel and related expenses are additional unless otherwise specified.

Course Prerequisites

Candidates must meet the applicable PADI Mermaid Instructor requirements, including:

• Minimum age of 18 years

• PADI Advanced Mermaid certification, qualifying equivalent, or eligible documented experience

• Current qualifying EFR Primary and Secondary Care training or equivalent

• Required watermanship and Mermaid skills

• Applicable medical and professional requirements

Alternative qualification pathways may be available for eligible diving professionals.

All candidates must meet current PADI standards before certification.

Once certified and in appropriate PADI teaching status, Mermaid Instructors may be authorized to conduct:
