Day 2 – Playa del Carmen: Bull Shark Observation & Caribbean Reef Diving

2 Guided Scuba Dives

Experience one of the most extraordinary seasonal marine wildlife encounters in the Mexican Caribbean.

During the winter months, bull sharks visit the waters off Playa del Carmen, creating a unique opportunity for experienced divers to observe these remarkable animals in their natural environment.

Dive 1 – Bull Shark Observation at Shark Point

The first dive takes place at a designated bull shark observation area off Playa del Carmen.

Divers descend under professional supervision to an observation area at approximately 27 metres / 90 feet.

The experience focuses on calm, responsible observation of wild bull sharks.

What Makes This Experience Special?

  • Experience a unique seasonal wildlife encounter

  • Learn about bull shark behaviour

  • Practice disciplined underwater positioning and situational awareness

  • Enjoy professional guidance and a detailed safety briefing

  • Experience a responsible, non-feeding observation dive

Responsible Bull Shark Diving

This is an observation-only dive.

The local operator does not bait or feed the sharks.

All participants must remain calm, follow their guide's positioning instructions, and avoid disturbing or attempting to interact with the animals.

Bull sharks are wild animals, and their presence, distance, and behaviour cannot be guaranteed.

Dive 2 – Playa del Carmen Shallow Reef

After the surface interval, enjoy a second guided dive at a suitable nearby reef.

This dive offers a different underwater experience, allowing you to explore the beautiful marine ecosystems of Playa del Carmen.

Potential highlights include:

  • Coral formations

  • Tropical reef fish

  • Sea turtles

  • Stingrays

  • Colourful sponge gardens

  • Caribbean marine biodiversity

Diving Experience

The bull shark observation dive requires advanced certification, recent diving experience, excellent buoyancy, and comfort with deeper recreational diving.

The second dive is planned at a shallower reef location appropriate for the group.

Typical Excursion Duration: Approximately 4 hours.

Included Services

  • One guided bull shark observation dive

  • One guided shallow reef dive

  • Professional local dive guide

  • Scheduled boat transportation

  • Standard scuba cylinders and weights

  • Bull shark observation fee

  • Marine park and applicable government fees

  • Detailed shark safety briefing

  • Drinking water and snacks

Day 3 – Riviera Maya: Freshwater Cenote Cavern Diving

2 Guided Cenote Dives

Complete your winter adventure by exploring the extraordinary freshwater cenotes of the Riviera Maya.

Beneath the Yucatán Peninsula lies a remarkable system of limestone formations and crystal-clear freshwater environments.

These natural sinkholes offer some of the most distinctive recreational diving experiences in the world.

  • Ancient limestone formations

  • Stalactites and stalagmites

  • Freshwater and saltwater haloclines at suitable locations

  • Fossils and geological features

  • Unique underwater photography opportunities

Diving Experience

Enjoy two guided dives at suitable standard-category cenote locations.

The exact sites will be selected according to availability, certification, experience, and environmental conditions.

Potential destinations may include suitable cenotes such as Chac Mool or other standard-category locations.

All dives are conducted with appropriately qualified local cavern guides along established recreational routes.

Typical Excursion Duration: Approximately 6 hours.
