Progress from Pool Training to Open-Water Freediving

The PADI Freediver course is designed for students who want to develop proper freediving technique, breath-hold control, relaxation, equalization, and safety skills and progress from confined-water training into open-water freediving.

The course combines knowledge development, confined-water training, and open-water training. Students develop and demonstrate the skills required for static apnea, dynamic apnea, Free Immersion, Constant Weight freediving, and open-water safety.

PADI Freediver is the full PADI freediving certification and includes the open-water portion of the program. The course develops freediving skills in the 10–12 m / 30–55 ft range according to PADI course requirements.

Learn with an Experienced Freediving Instructor

Your training is led by an experienced diving professional with nearly 20 years of continuous diving experience and over 10 years of teaching experience.

As a freediving instructor, Mermaid Instructor Trainer, and experienced technical diver, your instructor brings extensive knowledge and experience across different diving disciplines, including breath control, equalization, water comfort, underwater awareness, and diving safety.

At RDC, the focus is not only on depth performance, but also on helping students develop proper technique, confidence, relaxation, and long-term safety awareness in the water.

Throughout the course, your instructor will provide direct coaching, demonstrations, and practical feedback based on your individual progress, helping you build the skills and confidence needed to progress safely from pool training to open water.

Our goal is to help you become a more confident, capable, and safety-conscious freediver—not simply to pass an exam.

2 Half-Day Open-Water Sessions | Included in Course Tuition

After successfully completing the required theory and confined-water training, students will progress to the open-water portion of the PADI Freediver Course once the instructor determines they are ready.

Rui Diving Centre (RDC) offers flexible open-water training opportunities in Toronto, Ontario, and selected tropical diving destinations, including the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
